To purchase a song on itunes with a gift card, do we have to enter our credit card number to sign up first?


It asks me to sign up with apple then when i enter in a username and password it says enter your credit card number. why is it asking this? im redeeming my free gifts.. not paying for it.

When you use a gift card, You first have to sign up for an Apple ID or you can use an AOL account. It will then ask for credit card information. This must be filled in to use a card. This is due to the fact that you can't use 100% of the money on a card. there will always be something left. So they make you put in your card information so if you go over there will be some funds to pay for the content you are downloading. You can't get around this, it must be done to use the card
