I'm looking for a mozart / bethoven like song to play for our first dance as bride and groom. I really like the song Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve, but it is too gloomy.
I really like the violins / pianos / etc
Help me find a Mozart / Bethoven like song with a up-to-date twist for our first wedding dance?
There is quite a distinction between a Mozart/Beethoven (classical) song and the Verve song you speak about. If you are looking for something classical but modern then perhaps something like Lullaby by Bond. It is basically Canon in D with a bit of a pick me up. Or try Somewhere from West Side Story. It is not classical, but has lovely orchestral music.
If you are just looking for something with string instruments then try Metalica's Nothing Else Matters. It has a beautiful intro and the lyrics are lovely.
For piano maybe Joshua Kadison's Beautiful In My Eyes which is also a very nice first dance song.
If none of this is what you are looking for then try http://www.wedding-music-help.com/firstd...
Reply:I agree with the first poster - however, I've just gotten all their cds, so don't know the songs well enough to know what would suit a wedding dance.
One song I love is Midnight Blue, by Louise Tucker; it's based on Beethoven's 'Pathetique Sonata'.
Another of hers is Only For You - Elizabethan Serenade - the lyrics are more appropriate for a first dance. Both of these songs are on YouTube.

*Added - forgot this link of songs by decade with classical influences -

Reply:Check out Trans Siberian Orchestra. Beethoven's Last Night has a lot of Beethoven and Mozart. Also check out their Christmas Eve and Other Stories trilogy. Don't let the "Christmas" part sway you, there's a LOT of cool music. TSO puts a rock twist to traditional christmas and classical music. They totally rock!
