My fiance and I need help with our first dance song for our wedding!?

My boyfriend and I are having many arguements as to which song to have for our first dance for our wedding this September. He wants something different from the norm. I listen to just about anything and I am not picky at all. He listens to Brand New, Snow Patrol, Interpol, Saves the Day, Death Cab for Cutie, The Early November, Saves the Day, Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, Stroke 9, Counting Crows, Third Eye Blind, and the Goo Goo Dolls. You get the idea, he listens to anything along that line. He does not like country whatsoever. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help!

Your wedding song should relate to a song that you both listened to during a special time. It's your special song.

The Goo Goo dolls have a couple of good songs. Go to a music website and listen to some songs by the Artists he likes. Pick one!

Another idea is to each choose a song. Dance to the songs. The song should be felt by both of you.

Another thing may be that he doesn't want to be embarrassed, Does he dance?
Reply:you can have it both ways, you can either have a song of his for when you walk down the asile or have a song of yours when you walk down.

Also you can have the song you like first or his than for the wedding party to dance to you could have whoever song you didnt dance to at first. This way your both happy and get a song you like.
Reply:Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls in a really nice, slow song that would be good for your first dance.
Reply:Download Straylight Run "Existentialism on Prom Night" I've heard it played on alternative stations, so it sounds like his type of music, but it is slow with a piano.

Here are the lyrics:

When the sun came up

We were sleeping in

Sunk inside our blankets

Sprawled across the bed, and we

were dreaming

There are moments when

When I know it ends

The world revolves around us

And we're keeping it

Keep it all going

This delicate balance

Vulnerable, all knowing

Sing like you think no one's listening

You would kill for this

Just a little bit

Just a little bit

You would kill for this

Sing like you think no one's listening

You would kill for this

Just a little bit

Just a little bit

You would, you would

Sing me something soft

Sad and delicate

Or loud and out of key

Sing me anything

We're glad for what we've got

Done with what we've lost

Our whole lives laid out

Right in front of us

Sing like you think no one's listening

You would kill for this

Just a little bit

Just a little bit

You would, you would

Sing like you think no one's listening

You would kill for this

Just a little bit

Just a little bit

You would

Sing me something soft

Sad and delicate

Or loud and out of key

Sing me anything
Reply:Good luck!

You and Me by Lifehouse is similar to the bands you listed and really sweet.

I am having same problem - excepts my guy listens to classic and hard rock... He wants Motley Crue Without You for our wedding song...... Ummm no I don't think so.
Reply:You can always pick something old - like Frank Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight," or Louis Armstrong's "A Kiss To Build A Dream On" for something unconventional. Van Morrison's "Into The Mystic" is one of my favorite songs EVER. For something more recent, I personally love The Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You" - in fact, I had my bridal party introduced to that song.

Even if you're not picky about music, have you ever been to a concert together? What was the first concert you went to together? You can pick a song from that artist, or if you have a favorite group you both share a love of? My husband and I are both giant Dave Matthews Band fans, and we danced to "Lover Lay Down." (they have a newer song called "Steady as We Go" that's simply beautiful!!)
Reply:Well, with the kind of music he listens to, check out

Blue and Yellow by the Used.

and it's all in how you mix the two

and it starts just where the light exists

it's a feeling that you cannot miss

and it burns a hole through everyone that feels it

well you're never gonna find it

if you're looking for it

won't come your way

well you'll never find it

if you're looking for it

should've done something but I've done it enough

by the way your hands were shaking

rather waste some time with you

and you never would have thought in the end

how amazing it feels just to live again

it's a feeling that you cannot miss

it burns a hole through everyone that feels it

well you're never gonna find it

if you're looking for it

won't come your way

well you'll never find it

if you're looking for it

should've done something but I've done it enough

by the way your hands were shaking

rather waste some time with you

should've said something but I've said it enough

by the way my words were faded

rather waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

should've done something but I've done it enough

by the way your hands were shaking

rather waste my time with you

should've said something but I've said it enough

by the way my words were faded

rather waste my time with you

should've done something but I've done it enough

by the way my hands were shaking

rather waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

waste some time with you

[whispering:]

should've done something but I've done it enough

by the way your hands were shaking

rather waste some time with you

It's a slow song, but it's still got that some kind of edge as his other bands. I'm thinking of looking into that for my first dance. Or maybe, Our Lives by The Calling. Nobody said the first dance had to be a country song. Thankfully neither my fiancé nor I are overly fond of country so we will not be struggling with that decision.
Reply:He needs to try something different. Our wedding song was "YOU" by Jesse Powell. The words are perfect.

Perfect Wedding song.
Reply:Well my fiance %26amp; I are dancing to "Love of my life" by Santana and Dave Matthews Band. He also boycotted the country song I wanted. My advice would be to shuffle through his cds. You are bound to find a slow song with meaning behind it. Also go to lyrics mania.com, if you cant understand any of the lyrics, you can read them. Only you two will remember your first dance, so don't worry about what everyone else thinks.
