Looking for suggestions for our wedding song, we have different musical tastes...?

I tend to listen to punk music, whether it's Mxpx, Bad Religion, Rise Against, etc. I also tend to like rock music. My fiance on the other hand tends to like country.

We're looking for a good song to use either as our song, or just as something that I and a few of my guests would like, while still being wedding appropriate. I know it's a weird request, but help me out!

Thanks.

Haha, sounds like my fiance and I. He likes country but I am more into bands like Rise Against, Say Anything, The Killers, etc.

Have you checked out The Format? (Check for the song, On Your Porch) Its a great band that have plenty of touching songs that would be a perfect combo. If I think of any more, I will let you know !!!
Reply:How about "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie? It is an awesome song that is more emo than punk, really, but it is very soft and lovely (sounds a little bit like "Hey There, Delilah") See if your fiancee likes it. Also, you could always compromise and have her select the music for the father-daughter dance, and it can be something country, like that song called "I Loved Her First."
Reply:You can use Areosmith I can't remember what it is called, but it goes" I don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to fall asleep cause I would miss you babe, and I don't want to miss a thing" or you could use that song I dont know who originally sang it, but Jessica Simpson re did it " You take my breath away" Both of those are very appropriate. Congrats on the wedding. I hope this helped
Reply:Why don't you show a sense of humor and be introduced at reception to the song that goes something like "take away this ball and chain" and then have your first dance to her choice. This could work if she has a good humor.

never tear us appart by inxs

kinda punky.. kinda twangy..

best of both worlds
Reply:my fiance and i both like the kind of music that you do but we are dancing to Jack Johnson "Better Together". Its a nice song and I think everyone will like it. Not sure about any other song to play during the wedding haha. You have to think about your guests too about their type of music.
Reply:Gawd, that sounds like my fiance and I. I think we're going to agree on Jack Johnson "Better Together," Regina Spektor's "Real Love," or Colbie Caillat "Magic." All really enjoyable by everyone. "Real Love" is beautiful. It's a cover of a rare track by John Lennon.
Reply:I'm sure you will be able to make a compromise. Try listening to a favourite movie and use a song from there (i'm entering my ceremony to the imperial march from star wars!) If it shows something about the two of you it will be appropriate

Also try "time of your life" by greenday

you probably know the one i mean it goes - it's something unpredictable, that in the end was right, i hope you have the time of your life

just something that came to mind when i read your blurb
Reply:I would find a song that means something to the two of you. I don't think any of our songs at the reception were "wedding appropriate". For example, our last dance song was when you wish upon a star. I doubt that's a wedding song. So just pick songs that mean something to you both.
Reply:Try this site, it helped us when we needed a song, hope it helps you.
